Despite the success of the Rio Paralympics, the legacy of the games is questionable as participation in disabled sports is in decline. There have been calls for disabled and able-bodied World Championships to be merged, giving elite para-athletes the same billing as their counterparts to inspire participation in grassroots disabled sport.
